From an unidentified contemporary newspaper: Marian Barnum marries S. J. Patterson of Iowa. Miss Marian Barnum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Barnum, became the bride of Mr. S. J. Paterson of Waterloo, Iowa, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Salem.
The ceremony which was read in the presence of a few intimate friends and relatives, was performed by the Rev. Burchett in the Presbyterian Church which was beautifully decorated with spring flowers.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was charming in a frock of embroidered Alic-blue organdy and long blue silk lace mitts, with accessories of crystal. She carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and sweet peas.
Miss Vera Johnson, critic teacher in Independence, who acted as maid of honor, wore a pastel yellow print gown and carried deep pink roses. The bride's brother, Lee Barnum, was best man.
Mrs. J. S. Landers, with pipe organ accompaniment, sang "O Promise Me"
Mrs. Patterson is an alumnus of the Oregon Normal School, is also a graduate of the University of Oregon where she was affiliated with the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She served on the faculty here for three years as a critic teacher in the junior high school, and last year was an instructor in a demonstration school in San Diego, California.
Mr. Patterson is a radio director [sic] in the United States Navy. He is one of the highest non-commissioned officers in that line of service.
From another unidentified contemporary newspaper: At a pretty ceremony Sunday. March 6, at the Salem Presbyterian Church, Miss Marian Barnum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Barnum of Independence, became the bride of Mr. Samuel J. Patterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Patterson of Waterloo, Iowa. The service was read by the Rev. Grover Birchett before members of the family and a group of friends. Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. J. S. Landers sang, accompanied by Dr. Frank E. Churchill at the pipe organ.
The bride was attractively gowned in Alice blue all-over-embroidered organdy cut princess style with ankle-length flare skirt. As a finishing touch she wore demure blue lace mitts. Her flowers were a shower bouquet of pink rosebuds and lilies-of-the-valley.
The maid of honor, Miss Vera Johnson, wore a pale yellow-flowered silk gown and carried deep pink rosebuds. The bride was given away by her father. Lee Barnum, brother of the bride, acted as best man.
Mrs. Patterson is a graduate of the University of Oregon, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. After her graduation she was on the Oregon Normal School faculty until last year, when she was instructor in the San Diego demonstration school for teachers.
Mr. Patterson, chief radioman, U.S.N., departed for Bremerton, Wash., March 8. As soon as he is definitely located in his assignment Mrs. Patterson will join him.
