From an unidentified contemporary newspaper: Local couple is wed in Vancouver Friday. A June bride on the last day of the famous month was Miss Doris Krieg when she married Donald Barnum in Vancouver, Wn., last Friday. They were attended by Donald's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Lee J. Barnum of Aloha. The young couple, both of Independence, left here quietly last week, and only a few close friends outside the family knew their plans.
Following the wedding they spent some time in Portland, and from there to Astoria, eventually going to Lebanon to stay with a relative of the bride, Mrs. James McDaniels. They returned to Independence on Tuesday of this week.
The former Miss Krieg is the daughter of Mrs. F. W. Krieg of this city. The young couple were together until today, when Donald leaves for San Francisco to take a boat for the island of Guam. Mrs. Barnum will remain in Independence for several months until arrangements are made for her to sail to the island to remain with her husband during his two-year period of duty there.
Donald arrived in Independence from Washington, D.C., just a short time ago, where he was stationed in radio work through his connection with the United States Navy.
From another unidentified contemporary newspaper: Independence - Miss Doris Krieg, daughter of Mrs. Frederick Krieg, and Donald Barnum, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A: Barnum were united in marriage by Mrs. Jean B. Shaw at Vancouver, Washington June 30.
The bride was attended by Mrs. Lee Barnum. Lee Barnum acted as best man.
The young couple took a trip to the beaches and to Lebanon, returning to Independence Wednesday morning. Mr. Barnum who is a navy radio operator, will leave from San Francisco July 7, for Guam on a two year stay. Mrs. Barnum will leave in about six months to join her husband and they will then take a trip to China, Australia and the Philippine Islands.
