Ridgedale Couple Wedded 50 Years. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Barnum Came to Province in 1906; Son Farms Homestead. RIDGEDALE.—An event of interest to the Ridgedale community took place when Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Barnum celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. During the afternoon and evening 100 friends and neighbors called to congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Barnum and present them with a purse of money. The United Church Ladies' Aid of which Mrs. Barnum is a member served luncheon throughout the afternoon and evening to all callers. In a booklet made by Mrs. A. Sandgren callers registered their names.
Mrs. Barnum whose maiden name was Mary Catherine Craig was united in marriage to John Henry Barnum on March 26, 1890, in the County of Haliburton, Ontario. The Rev. Wesley Down was the officiating minister. Three children were born of this union, one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Bernice Monkman, Star City, Phineas Taylor, of Ridgedale and Redvers Rudyard whose death occurred in 1920. There are two grandchildren, Elmer Dewar, Prince Albert and Marguerite Walkman, Star City. Mr. and Mrs. Barnum came to Saskatchewan in 1906 and homesteaded two miles from where Ridgedale now is, and where their son still lives. Mr. Barnum was in the lumber business at Peesane from 1910 until 1925 when they took up residence in Ridgedale.
