A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
Marriage Bonds of Ontario, 1803-1834 says that Charles D. Barnum of North Crosby twp, Leeds county, joiner, and Polly Beach of Bastard twp, Leeds county married on 28 September, 1831 at the City of Brockville, Ontario, while the Ontario Register, Volume 6, Marriages states that both parties were residents of Bastard Township, Leeds County when they married on 13 November, 1831. To add further confusion Ontario Marriage Notices, by Wilson, carries the entry: 13 Oct 1831, Charles E. Barnum & Polly Beach of Bastard twp, Leeds county, by Rev. W. Smart. Witnesses, Erin Stoddard and Isaac Dunham.
