On Wednesday afternoon, September 21, 1927, at three o'clock, a very pretty autumn wedding was solemnized in the presence of the immediate relatives and friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Barnum, Seymour Twp., when their youngest daughter, Verna Grace, was united in marriage to Mr. Robert Stewart Nelson, Seymour Twp., youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nelson, the Rev. Chas. D. Daniel officiating. The home was very prettily decorated with a profusion of ferns, autumn flowers and white bells. To the strains of the wedding march played by the cousin of the bride, Miss Evelyn Barnum, the bride entered the drawing room on the arm of her father and took her place beneath an arch of evergreens, autumn leaves and pink and white asters, banked with ferns. The bride was a picture of girlish loveliness in a simple frock of white silk crepe de chine, trimmed with tulle rosettes and rosebuds, and veil of sheer white silk Brussels net, embroidered and worn in cap effect, with orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of sweetheart roses, carnations and baby's breath. White kid shoes and stocking to match were worn. Miss Mabel Ross, Madoc, acted as bridesmaid, gowned in poudre blue georgette, trimmed with shirred ribbon, over a rose slip, with blonde shoes and stockings to match, and carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and baby's breath. Mr. Clarence Barnum, brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. During the signing of the register Miss Hazel Ross, Madoc, rendered a piano solo. The groom's gift to the bridesmaid was a gold bar pin set with pearls: to the pianist, an ivory mirror: to the groomsman, a gold tie pin, set with pearls. After the ceremony the guests repaired to the dining room which was prettily decorated with Star of Bethlehem, and a dainty buffet luncheon was served. The wedding cake, which was sent by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Fred Johns, Craik, Saskatchewan, adorned the centre of the table. The bride and groom left on a motor trip to Toronto, Niagara and points west, the bride travelling in a gown of gobelin blue crepe de chine and hat to match, with a navy tailored coat and fitch choker, the gift of the groom, and shoes and stockings to match. The out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson, Saint Catharines: Mr. and Mrs. Percy Morgan, Peterboro: Miss Regina Tamblyn, Toronto: Mrs. Ernest Sloggett and baby, Gerald Sloggett, Toronto: Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McKeown and Francis, Stirling; and Mrs. Jas. Stewart, Saskatchewan.
