A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
There appears to be some confusion about the location of the marriage. Although records state that it took place in "Gov. Cuthchery, Lingsoogour," contemporary research finds no Indian town named Lingsoogour. There is, however, a town named Lingsugur in Karnataka State. The name "Kachari," which is quite close to "Cuthchery," given the vagaries of Indian spelling, signifies "office" or "offices." So, It is quite possible that they were married in the Government Offices in Lingsugur, Karnataka State, India.
