From The Evening Leader, Corning, NY, Friday, March 23, 1928: Announcements have been received here of the marriage at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 17 of Miss Florence Elizabeth Hansen of that city, to Howard Merle Barnum, former Corning young man but now residing at Pittsburgh. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Hansen of that city. Mr. Barnum was born and spent the early part of his life in Corning. His father was J. M. Barnum who at one time was employed in Corning Glass Works and who died in 1924 in Florida after he had lived there but a short time. Howard Merle Barnum was graduated from Corning Free Academy about 12 years ago and later entered Colby College, being a class mate of Attorney Ransom Pratt of this city. He was graduated at Colby with the class of 1921 after which he went to Pittsburgh to take a position with Swift & Company.
