According to The Abridged Compendium of American Genealogy, Ephraim (1710-75) married Mehetabel. He was a farmer by occupation.
The Genealogical and Family History of Southern New York states that Ephraim, son of Thomas (2) and Sarah (Beardsley) Barnum, was born about 1710, died August, 1775. He lived in that part of Danbury which is now Bethel, where he was a farmer. His wife's name was Mehitable, and they had children; 1. Ephraim, born August 28, 1733; 2. Matthew, 1736 at Bethel; 3. Elijah, February 1, 1738; 4. David; 5. Comfort; 6. Philip; 7. Samuel; 8. Ruth, married John Bassett; 9. Rachel, married Benjamin Hickok.

His will is dated 1 March 1771 and proved on 28 August 1775 in Danbury. He mentions his wife Mehitabel, his sons, Ephraim, Mattew, Elijah, David, Comfort, Philip, and Samuel, and his daughters, Ruth and Rachel. His inventory was taken on 7 November 1775.
He resided in that part of Danbury which is now the town of Bethel.
