Ephraim Paine Barnum 1798-1876, b. Amenia, Dutchess County, NY. Migration Steps: Ephraim Paine Barnum was the son of Caleb Barnum and Mary Paine and the grandson of Ephraim Paine (one of the writers of the Articles of Confederation and a Member of the NY Senate). He was a cabinet maker by trade. He married Rebecca Ward in 1823. Her parentage is unknown. Their Children: Cornelia b. 1824; Frederick George b. 1826, Rebecca Jane b.1828; Sarah b. 1829; Charles Palmer b.1830; Caroline b. 1833; Mary Eliza b. 1834; and James Gay b.1836. It is believed that all these children were born in Amenia, NY. Rebecca Ward Barnum was not enumerated in the Census with the family in 1850.
