Ephraim Paine Barnum 1798-1876, b. Amenia, Dutchess County, NY. Migration Steps: Ephraim Paine Barnum was the son of Caleb Barnum and Mary Paine and the grandson of Ephraim Paine (one of the writers of the Articles of Confederation and a Member of the NY Senate). He was a cabinet maker by trade. He married Rebecca Ward in 1823. Her parentage is unknown. Their Children: Cornelia b. 1824; Frederick George b. 1826, Rebecca Jane b.1828; Sarah b. 1829; Charles Palmer b.1830; Caroline b. 1833; Mary Eliza b. 1834; and James Gay b.1836. It is believed that all these children were born in Amenia, NY. Rebecca Ward Barnum was not enumerated in the Census with the family in 1850. He was probably born in either Amenia, New York, or in Connecticut.
