From The New York Times, February 20, 1943: Danbury, Conn. Feb. 19 - Dr. Walter M. Barnum, dean of physicians in Litchfield County, died today in his home at Kent, Connecticut after a brief illness. His age was 83. In addition to being the oldest physician in Kent, he also owned the town’s only pharmacy, located just outside the campus of Kent School for Boys. Dr. Barnum was born in Kent and received his medical degree from Columbia. He always practiced in Kent. He leaves a widow, Hannah Barnum.
