From the Bridgeport Telegram of August 29, 1955. E. E. Barnum Dies, Patriotic Group Aide. Services will take place Wednesday for Ernest E. Barnum, 68, of 1289 Iranistan Avenue, secretary of the United Patriotic societies and active in veterans' affairs in Bridgeport many years who died yesterday in his home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Mr. Barnum, a veteran of World War I was a retired inspector at the Remington Arms company. He was past state commander of the Sons of Union Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Green Barnum; two daughters, Mrs. Adelaide Bursey and Mrs. Anthony Cappiello, both of Bridgeport; three brothers, Anthony Barnum of Bridgeport, William Barnum of Woodmont and Louis Barnum of Waterbury; a sister, Mrs. Harriet Barnum of Saint Petersburg, Fla. and 2 grandchildren.
