Notes for Daniel Turner BARNUM


Some sources show his middle name as Taylor intead of Turner and he is sometimes confused with Daniel Taylor Barnum (1766-1772).

The Genealogical Record of the Barnum Family shows six daughters of Daniel Turner Barnum and his wife Polly Ann Tomlinson. They are given as Helen, Harriet, Minerva, Mrs. Philo Parsons, Mrs. George Parsons and Mrs. (Reverend) Fisher Gutellon, in that order.

In the 1840 US Census for Leicester, Livingston County, New York the family of Daniel T. Barnum was enumerated as follows:
Daniel T. Barnum, 2 free white males under 5, 1 free white males 10 & under 15, 1 free white male 40 & under 50, 1 free white female under 5, 1 free white female 5 and under 10, 1 free white female 10 and under 15, 2 free white females 15 and under 20, 1 free white female 40 and under 50

In the 1850 US Census for Leicester, Livingston County, New York the family of Daniel T. Barnum was enumerated as follows:

It appears that Daniel was widowed and remarried between the 1850 and 1860 censuses.

The Barnum Family, 1517-1904 mistakenly gives him a birth date of 4 Dec 1696, off by a century. His gravestone says 1793.
The Barnum Family, 1517-1904 gives a death date of 30 Sep 1899.
