Alumni Record of the College of Liberal Arts, 1903, Northwestern University: Frank Wilson Barnum was born 15 Aug 1871 at Morrison, Illinois. Prepared in Northwestern University Academy. A.B.; Delta Tau Delta; Phi Beta Kappa; Harris prize. Clergyman, Methodist Episcopal, Rock River Conference. Pastor at Lake Bluff, Ill., 1896-99; of Bowen Church, Chicago, 1899. Married Emma Augusta Hume, 21 June 1899, at Manteno, Illinois. Child—Merritt Hume, born 25 Jan. 1901.
From the Chicago Daily Tribune, September 21, 1952: The Rev. Frank W. Barnum, 81, of Lake Bluff, Illinois, retired Methodist minister, died yesterday in Lake Forest Hospital. He went to Lake Bluff originally in 1896 as pastor of the Grace Methodist Church, where he remained for three years. Later he served in pastorates in Chicago and Rockford and for six years was superintendent of the southern district of the Methodist Rock River Conference. The Rev. Mr. Barnum retired in 1936 and returned to Lake Bluff. Surviving are his widow Emma and a son Merritt.
