From the San Bernardino County Sun, San Bernardino, California, 14 April 1905: The hearts of a large circle of friends were saddened yesterday when the news of the death of Mrs. A. W. Barnum was announced. It came as a shock to all, though it was known for some time that she was ill, though it was not supposed that the end was so near. Death was caused by peritonitis.
Mrs. Barnum was born in Connecticut, and was 57 years of age. She had been a resident of this city for a number of years, being the wife of A. W. Barnum, one of the leading merchants of the city. Beside her husband, Mrs. Barnum leaves a son, J. Harold Barnum, and a daughter, Miss Emma Barnum.
Mrs. Barnum was prominent in social and church circles, one of the leading members of the Baptist congregation, and her death is mourned by a very large circle of sympathizing and intimate friends.
The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the residence, 462 G street, Rev. Mark B. Shaw officiating.
