In Massachusetts, Town Records, 1620-1988 there is an entry for an illegitimate child born to Sally Rice on 20 February 1825 and given the name Cutler Barnum. It is assumed that Sally Rice was a sister of Elizabeth, who married Ebenezer Barnum. Elizabeth and Ebenezer apparently raised Cutler as their own child.
