From the NY Times of July 8, 1931: Reno, Nev.--July 7--Mrs. Mary Richmond Barnum, widow of Joshua W. Barnum, died here June 29 of cancer at the age of 83. Her daughter, Mrs. Marie R. B. West, widow of Hiram D. West, local cattleman, died here last Friday after an operation that followed a year’s poor health. She was about 45. The bodies of mother and daughter were sent East tonight for funeral services and burial next Tuesday at Hempstead, Long Island. where both women formerly resided. They came to Reno nine years ago after Mrs. West had obtained a divorce from Louis Warner. They had been living on a ranch sixty miles north of the city.
