From the Putnam County (New York) Republican, Carmel, NY, March 12, 1887: Herman C. Barnum, better known as "Crane" Barnum, died at the residence of his son-in-law, Jonathan Minor in the town of Southeast on Sunday last (March 6). He was probably the oldest resident of Southeast, being in the 90th year of his age. He leaves two children, Eliza, wife of Jonathan Minor and Edward Barnum who is engaged in business in New York City. He was an uncle of the late Joshua Barnum, and had always resided in Southeast.
