Ezbon was a veteran of the Revolutionary War; Captain Botsford's company, 2nd Connecticut Line Regiment (Colonel Swift). The Barnum Family spells his given name as Esborn and assigns his children to his brother Isaac. The US Census of 1790 shows Ezbon Barnum, with two free white males under 16 and five free white females, living in Brookfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
