From the Utica Daily Press, October 30, 1931: George Nathan Barnum, 79, died yesterday in his sleep. Mr. Barnum was born August 28, 1852, son of George and Cornelia Christian Barnum, the former being the leader of the Old Utica Band. He was educated in the Williams Private School. After leaving school he was apprenticed in the firm of W. B. Lord from who he learned his trade of upholsterer. He was for many years connected with Lord  & Lattimore and about 20 years ago went into business for himself, retiring in 1928. January 15, 1875 he married Frances Merrell, Utica who survives. He also leaves a daughter, Mrs. John M. Brown and a granddaughter, Priscilla.
