From the Utica Observer Dispatch, Friday, June 2, 1950: Mrs. Nettie E. Marsden Barnum, 84, widow of Fred E. Barnum died June 2, 1950 in a nursing home after a long illness. Mrs. Barnum was born August 31, 1865 in Tatlock, Ontario, Canada daughter of the late Thomas and Jeanette Robb Marsden. She came to this state in childhood, was educated in local schools and attended Sayre Memorial Church…She leaves five sons, Charles O. Barnum, Utica; Edwin A., Lyons Falls; Roy F., Utica; John M., Ilion; and Robert O., Montgomery; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Board, Utica; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
