From the Middletown (NY) Daily Times-Press, Friday, July 28, 1911: Port Jervis, July 27.--Mrs. Melina Ryall Barnum, wife of Henry W. Barnum, died at her home on the corner of Ridge avenue and Spring street, at 11 o'clock this morning of Bright's disease after a short illness. She was aged 61 years. The deceased was born at Castle Cary, Somersetshire, England, and was the daughter of Benjamin and Louise Ryall. When she was seven years of age her parents came to this country and settled at Monticello, N. Y. On August 18, 1867, she was united in marriage with Henry W. Barnum. For the past thirty years she had resided in this city. Mrs. Barnum was a member of the Methodist Church, and was a woman of excellent qualities and was held in high esteem by a host of friends. Those who survive her are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Snively Rider of Harrisburg, Pa., and Mrs. Roscoe Decker of New York City, one son, Arthur A. Barnum of Jamaica, L. I., one brother, Benjamin Ryall of Port Jervis, and four sisters, Mrs. Charles Mapledoram, Mrs. Robert McNickle and Mrs. Floyd R. Pelton, of Monticello, and Mrs. Emma L. Bush, of Islip, L. I.
From the Middletown (NY) Daily Times-Press, Saturday, July 29, 1911: Funeral of Mrs. Barnum. The funeral of Mrs. Malina Ryall Barnum was held this morning at 10 o'clock at the house, 2 Ridge avenue, Port Jervis. The services were conducted by the Rev. Robert Bruce Clark. The body was taken on the O. & W. train at 11:45 o'clock to Monticello, for interment in Rock Ridge Cemetery.
