The Cedar Falls Historical Society, which is located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, operates five museum sites, including a Victorian era home which was built and lived in by Azel Day Barnum, married to Jane Van Dyke.
In the 1850 US Census for Lancaster, Stephenson County, Illinois the family of Azel D. Barnum was enumerated as follows:
Dwelling #310; Family #337
Azel D. Barnum, 28, M, Merchant, b. Vermont
Jane Barnum, 23, F, b. Pennsylvania
Erastus [sic] D. Barnum, 1, M, b. Vermont
Margaret J. Ramsey, 19, F. b. Pennsylvania
Dwelling #310 was owned by John Van Dyke, 67, whose family of seven membres also lived there. The Barnum Family mistakenly gives a birth year of 1882, which was nearly 20 years after the death of his father.
