Notes for Allen BARNUM


Allen Barnum, of Taymouth, Michigan, enlisted on 11 August 1862 (age 24) at East Saginaw as a Private and served Oct 1862-1864 as a Corporal in Company "B" , 23rd Regiment, Michigan Volunteer Infantry. Allen filed Civil War Pension Application No. 691.960 in Michigan on March 7, 1889.

Although he died in 1907, Allen began receiving an Army Invalid pension of $15.00 per month on 2 Nov 1908. The amount of his pension was raised to $24.00 on 24 May 1912, and to $30.00 on 29 Oct 1913. His son Colon C. Barnum notified the government of Allen's death on 29 Sep 1920.
