From an unnamed contemporary newspaper: DIED.--Mrs. Phebe J. Barnum died at her home on the Chappaqua road, near Whippoorwill street, on Monday, July 21st, aged 84 years. She had been ailing for some time, and tenderly cared for by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. David Barnum. One son survives, Dr. Wright Barnum, of Ossining. The funeral was held at the house on Thursday at 3 p.m. Rev. Mr. Carr officiated. The burial was in the Barnum private cemetery, near by.
