She was buried in the New Fairfield or Town Center Cemetery, the oldest existing cemetery in the town of New Fairfield. It is located on the east side of Brush Hill Road (Route 39) across from the Town Hall and the former location of the Congregational Church. Her gravestone reads: In memory of Sylvia, wife of Wyllis Barnum, who died Feb. 4, 1835, aged 24 yrs, & 11 mos. One of Sylvia's daughters, also named Sylvia, was born the same year and month as she died. That seems to indicate that Sylvia may have died due to complications of childbirth.
