Notes for Elisha Freeman BARNUM


Elisha F. Barnum served as a private in Company "H" of the 4th New York Heavy Artillery during the US Civil War. He enlisted 11 August 1862, giving his age as 25. He was discharged in Rochester, NY. He received a pension.
In the 1869 edition of the Orleans County Directory he is shown as a farmer, leasing 123 acres of land in Lot 4, Section 3, Range 3. His name is carved on the door leading to the steeple room of the Yates Baptist Church, with the notation "Apr. 20, 1918, aged 82."
