Notes for Alfred Henry BARNUM


He served with Co. C, 70th NY Regiment, during the Civil War. He was
killed at the Battle of Williamsburg, April 5, 1862 at Williamsburg,
Virginia.
Gravestone inscription: Private Alfred Henry Barnum. Birth: Jul. 31, 1843; Death: May 5, 1862. On a white marble monument About 6 feet tall, with a Civil War flag holder.

This memorial is a cenotaph for Alfred, who was buried on the battlefield. Information from the Paw Paw District Library, Bangs Cemetery, states that he was killed at the Battle of Williamsburg, Va. and buried by his comrades on the battlefield.
