There is a grave marker in Cedar Bluff Cemetery in Rockford, Winnebago, IL with the following inscription: Anson Barnum b. 3/6/1807 d. 9/5/1873. The Genealogical Record of the Barnum Family gives his dates as: 15 Sep 1807 and 6 Mar 1873.
An Anson Barnum is found in the Illinois Public Land Records in 1843. An Anson Barnum born about 1808 in Ct. is found in the Oregon, Ogle Co., Illinois census images of 1870. His wife's name is shown as Elizabeth. They had a son Charlie H. Barnum. The History of Ogle County has references to Anson Barnum being quite active in the community in the 1850's. Prior to becoming a Judge, he was active on many committees.
