Notes for Lewis BARNUM


Lewis Barnum arived in Brown County, Kansas in late 1859 or early 1860. He homesteaded about 4 miles southwest of Hiawatha, where he then lived until his death. He had three older siblings who died 1860-1870 in Clayton COunty, Iowa. The two wives of Lewis barnum were first cousins to one another. In a letter to Audrey Smith, Lester Harold Barnum gave "James" as the middle name of Lewis Barnum.
He was buried in the northeast section of the Old Hiawatha Cemetery.
