From the Stamford Mirror-Recorder, Stamford, N.Y., June 22, 1927: Maplecrest--Death has again entered our village and on June 10th took from our midst Martin M. Barnum. He died on Friday evening as the shades of dying day came stealing across the earthly sky. His spirit entered the dawn of eternal day, his life suddenly departing for that realm where there are no broken bodies nor anguish of mind. Although Mr. Barnum had not been in good health for two years, he was able to be about and was attentive to business and only for the past few months was confined to his home. His funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon last at the Maplecrest M. E. Church of which he was an active member. Rev. W. L. Comstock of Stamford, who officiated, spoke highly of the Christian character and faith of the deceased. Mr. Barnum would have been 76 years of age had he lived until the 17th of June. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, who was formerly Miss Carrie Foster and two sons, Raymond and Elmer, and several brothers and sisters who have the deepest sympathy of the community in their bereavement. Interment was in Maplecrest cemetery by the side of Flora and Albert, two children, who died several years ago.
