Notes for Harold Lee BARNUM


Wellsboro Agitator of September 7, 1910: Dr. H. L. Barnum died of apoplexy at 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, August 30 at the home of his brother, Dr. K. Raymond Barnum in Sedalia, Missouri where he had been lying unconscious since the 35th ultimo when he was stricken. Dr. Harold Lee Barnum was 36 years old. He was born in Tioga County, Pa., on October 23, 1874. In 1897, he graduated from Cook Academy, Montour Falls, NY. He then attended Hahnemann Medical college, Philadelphia where in 1902 he graduated with a certificate of homeopathy and allopathy. He located at Sedalia in the late fall of 1902, where he began the practice of his profession as a homeopathic physician. For two years Dr. Barnum was vice president of the Missouri State Homeopathic Association and held the honor of that office at the time of his death. On September 3, 1901, at Philadelphia, Dr. Barnum married Miss Sara A. Knauss of that city. The widow, two daughters, Ruth aged 7 and Helen aged 2, and the following brothers and sisters survive him: Dr. K. Raymond Barnum who was associated with the deceased, Jay A. Barnum a former Missouri Pacific machinist, Isaac L. Barnum of Berwick, Pa.; Mrs. R. M. Newell of Elmira, NY; Mrs. F. B. Chapin of Ponce, PR; Mrs. John Campbell of Wellsboro.
