From the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, January 3, 1920: Mrs. Mary Starr Barnum of 29 Halsey Street, widow of Noah K. Barnum died on Wednesday (December 31, 1919) of apoplexy in her 92nd year. Mrs. Barnum was one of the oldest members of the Nostrand Avenue ME Church and when a young woman was for several years a singer in its choir. Interment in Danbury, Connecticut. Mrs. Barnum was born in Danbury, the daughter of Rev. Rory Starr, a Methodist local preacher, and Sallie Benedict Starr. Her maternal great-grandfather, Lemuel Benedict was an aide to Gen. Washington at Newburgh, NY. Mr. Barnum who died six years ago was formerly in business in Savannah, Ga.
