A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
From the Wisconsin State Journal, Tuesday, July 18, 1950: Mrs. George S. Barnum, 82, Monroe, died in a Monroe hospital Monday afternoon (July 17th). Mrs. Barnum, the former Samantha J. Holmes was born in Jefferson Township and was married September 6, 1885. The couple farmed in Jefferson Township until 1902 when they moved to Juda, where Mr. Barnum was engaged in the banking business. In 1917, they moved to Monroe. Mr. Barnum died January 22, 1943. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. R. J. Nyman, 3 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
