Zenus moved to Waverly, Tioga, New York during the late 1860s. He then moved to Binghamton, New York in 1870, after buying a farm on Upper Front Street. That home still stands, north of Broome Technical Community College. Zenus also bought and sold more land, sometimes with his half-brother Amos.
In the 1870 US Census for Barton District 4, Tioga County, New York Zenus listed his occupation as "interested in coal mine".
He was buried in Hollenbeck Cemetery.
