Notes for Edwin Elroy BARNUM
Edwin resided in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from around 1890 to 1940, where he was a railway developer involved in the Seattle to Vancouver railway.
An entry in the records of the Anglican Church of Sweetsburg, Québec, Canada states as follows: Baptized: Barnum, Edwin Elroy son of George William Barnum, farmer of the township of Shefford & of Eliza Ellen his wife, by her maiden name Bell, was born the 13th of August 1860 and was baptized the 14th of October following by me [signature illegible].
Sweetsburg, which is now part of the city of Cowansville, was a very busy municipality, as late as the 1920s, and with reason. It was the center for the district of Bedford for all activities of the judiciary for Missisquoi, Brome and Shefford.
