A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
From the Phoenix Register, Phoenix, NY, Friday, April 11, 1930: Fred H. Barnum, 66, for more than 40 years a resort and hotel proprietor at Three Rivers, passed away in General Hospital, Syracuse, Monday after a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr. Barnum was in Phoenix last Wednesday and was taken ill that night. Mr. Barnum was born in Syracuse in September 1864, a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Barnum, pioneers in this section of the country. He and his brother passed several years on a ranch in Colorado, which was purchased by their father, after having completed their early education in the Syracuse city schools. Upon his return in 1890, Mr. Barnum stopped at Three Rivers. He remained there and built up one of the most popular resorts in the state and people came from all over the country to dine at Barnum's Three Rivers.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Barnum; a son, Raymond H. Barnum and a brother, William L. Barnum, Onondaga county judge. The funeral was held at the home of his son in Syracuse at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and burial was in Oakwood cemetery in that city.

Fred H. Barnum, 66, hotel proprietor at Three Rivers and brother of Judge William L. Barnum, who died Monday in the General Hospital of Syracuse, was buried this afternoon in Oakwood Cemetery. Services were conducted at 2 o'clock at the home of his son Raymond H. Barnum.
