From the Oakland Tribune, Oakland, California, July 1, 1905: Alameda, July 1.—the funeral of John Gould Barnum will take place tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. from the late residence, 1513 Bay Street. The deceased was a resident of Alameda for over twenty years, coming here from Boston, where at one time he was a prosperous fur dealer, but lost all of his possessions in the great Boston fire. He was a native of Vermont, aged 90 years.
From the San Francisco Chronicle, Saturday, July 1, 1905: In Alameda, June 30, John Gould Barnum, father of Mrs. Albert Jacobs, a native of Vermont, aged 90 years, 4 months and 4 days. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral services Sunday, July 2 at the residence of Mrs. Albert Jacobs, Alameda. Interment is at Mountain View Cemetery.
