He enlisted December 21, 1861 in Company "F", 98th NY Volunteer Infantry; was discharged May 30, 1865. He inherited the family farm in East Nissouri Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. In 1891 he was living in Ingersoll and working in a store there.
