Mrs. Dorothy Clarke of Onondaga, MI wrote in 1992, "Since sending you information on Hiram Abbey, I found an atlas for 1860 that lists him as a farmer and hotel proprietor. The hotel referred to is on land we own in Hamlin Township, Eaton County and is currently the residence of our son Robert who works the farm with his father. My husband's father purchased this land in 1919 and we bought it in 1957. Our abstract on this property shows Hiram Abbey acquiring it in 1855. Apparently after his death an entry shows that Lanott Abbey and wife, heirs of Hiram Abbey and Albert Abbey, heir of Hiram Abbey gave quit claim deeds to Henry Daniels on May 22, 1867."
