From the NY Times of November 9, 1905: Miss Laura Barnum, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William M. Barnum, was married to Richmond Levering of Lexington, Kentucky in Saint Thomas’ Church, Mamaroneck, NY on November 8.

From the NY Times of February 15, 1915: Lexington, Kentucky, Feb. 14: Laura Barnum Levering of New York and Philadelphia yesterday filed suit here for divorce against J. Richmond Levering, a millionaire independent oil operator of New York. Mr. Levering is the son of Mortimer Levering, formerly of Lexington. Father and son made themselves wealthy by forming the Indian Oil Refining Company and combating the Standard Oil Company in various parts of the country.

From the NY Times of February 24, 1915: Mrs. Laura Barnum Levering, wife of J. Richmond Levering, the wealthy oil operator..received today an absolute divorce. The agreement provided that Richmond Levering Jr. aged 8, Walter Barnum Levering aged 5 and Anna Levering aged 3 shall remain in their mother’s custody until they are 21.

In the NY Times of January 30, 1920 appears a lengthy obituary of Richmond Levering who died of pneumonia in NYC on January 28, 1920, in his thirty-ninth year.

Laura Barnum Levering died on 23 December 1964 in Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
