Birth: Mar. 2, 1888, New York, USA; Death: Mar. 16, 1906, Bridgeville, Sullivan County, New York, USA. Earl Barnum died at the home of his father, H. E. Barnum, of Bridgeville, last Friday morning. On Sunday he complained of having indigestion. Becoming worse, Monday, Drs. McWilliams and Curlette were called. They pronounced appendicitis. He seemed to improve a little, but on Thursday had a relapse, and in spite of the doctors' efforts, died early Friday morning. Deceased was 18 years old. He was highly respected by all who knew him. He is survived by his father, mother [Lillian] and three brothers, Leon, Weston and Neal Dow. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Bridgeville Church. He died of a ruptured appendix. Dr. H.W. Barnum told his brother that immediate surgery was necessary, but H.E. and Lillian said "No! " to surgery and their son died as a result.
