She was the widow of the Rev. James Arthur at the time she married the Rev. David Wheeler Barnum.
Gravestone inscription: Eve Dean Arthur, Wife of the late D.W. Barnum of Ontario, Canada. Born Chard, Eng., Died Victoria, B.C. Note: This inscription may be in error, since other sources show her given name as Eva and spell her surname Deane. It is not known why she was buried in Washington State, since she and her second husband both died in Canada.
