Lyndonville - Vernon L. Barnum, 70, of 21 Eagle St., died Wednesday (Aug. 12, 1964) in Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, after an illness of six weeks. He was born April 16, 1894, at Volin, near Yankton, S.D. In his early youth the family moved to the Town of Yates, Orleans County. He engaged in farming for many years and was employed for about 14 years on the custodial staff of Lyndonville Central School until his retirement two years ago. He was a member of Yates Baptist Church.
Surviving are his widow, Edith (Brown); two sons, Vernon Jr. and Weldon, of Medina; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hedley of Lyndonville and Mrs. Harold Geiger of Medina; 13 grandchildren; six brothers, Newell, Lowell, Alton, William, Irving and Clifton, all of Lyndonville; one sister, Mrs. Ray Dorothy Merrill of Waterport; several nieces and nephews. A service will be held today at the Smythe Funeral Home, Lyndonville, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. George L. Engle, pastor of Yates Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery.
