A One-Name Study for the BARNUM/BARNHAM Surname
There is some confusion about this person. As noted above, the Genealogical Record of the Barnum Family shows Nathan Barnum married (1st) to Rebecca LOCKWOOD and (2nd) to Jemima STEVENS. The same source shows Nathan's son David Barnum married (1st) to Ann Towner and (2nd) to Jemima BEARDSLEY. The Stevens Family shows Jemima STEVENS married (1st) to Serajah BEARDSLEY and (2nd) to David Barnum. Two questions arise from that information: "are Jemima STEVENS and Jemima BEARDSLEY the same person? and, "did Jemima (Stevens) BEARDSLEY marry both David and his father, or just one of them? In this genealogy the second wives of Nathan and David Barnum are shown as two persons -- Jemima STEVENS and Jemima
BEARDSLEY. However, they may have been the same person. Further research is needed.
