Notes for Eda Turner BARNUM


While Eda and her sister Eva were girls, P.T. Barnum brought his circus to Hannibal, and they were presented to him. He called them his cousins and gave them each a silver cross. The crosses are now in the possession of Bruce Weir, in Kanata, Canada.
From the Mountain Democrat (Placerville, CA), Thursday, December 2, 1954, Page 7:
Eda B. Wilder. Private services were held at Memory Chapel Monday for Mrs. Eda Barnum Wilder, 70, wife of C. J. Wilder of Placerville, who died last Friday in a local hospital. Born in Hannibal, Mo., Mrs. Wider had lived in this community since 1931. She was the sister of Mrs. Mary G. Weir of Sacramento.
Cremation was at East Lawn Crematory and graveside services for burial of the remains in Newtown cemetery will be set at a later date.
