Notes for William Webber BARNUM


William Webber Barnum's WWI and WWII draft registrations give a birth date of May 7, 1883. His WWII card also gives his place of birth as Aylmer, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada. He resided in Smethport, McKean County, Pennsylvania. He was married to Bertha Southworth who predeceased him. He married Esther B. after his first wife died.
From the McKean County Democrat of Thursday, October 15, 1953: Smethport residents were shocked and saddened when they heard of the death of one of the town's leading citizens William Webber Barnum, 70, who died Saturday (October 10) at his home. He was born May 7, 1883 at Alymer, Ontario, Canada and was the son of the late Timothy and Carolyn Webber Barnum. For the past 34 years he had made his home here where he conducted the McKean County Creamery for years until his retirement. Survivors include his wife Esther B. Barnum and two sisters Mrs. James Hinks of Blue River, British Columbia and Mrs. William Chipchase of Gault, Ontario, Canada. Committal services were conducted in Obi (New York) Cemetery.
