From the McKean County Democrat of Thursday, October 15, 1953: Smethport residents were shocked and saddened when they heard of the death of one of the town's leading citizens William Webber Barnum, 70, who died Saturday (October 10) at his home. He was born May 7, 1883 at Alymer, Ontario, Canada and was the son of the late Timothy and Carolyn Webber Barnum. For the past 34 years he had made his home here where he conducted the McKean County Creamery for years until his retirement. Survivors include his wife Esther B. Barnum and two sisters Mrs. James Hinks of Blue River, British Columbia and Mrs. William Chipchase of Gault, Ontario, Canada. Committal services were conducted in Obi (New York) Cemetery.
