We do not know the source of Emily and Harriet's income, but we do know that they lived with their brother Theodore in the Strawberry Hill district of Norwalk, until his death in 1905. The sisters continued to live together and neither of them married. According to their obituaries, they were considered "well-to-do" and had no surviving relatives at the time of their own deaths, in 1915.
She and her sister Harriet died on the same day, from pneumonia; Emily at 4:00 p.m and Harriet at 10:00 p.m.
She shares a gravestone with her sister Harriet and her brother Theodore. The gravestone reads: Rogers - Theodore Dwight, July 10, 1822 - Dec. 26, 1905; Emily Louise, March 6, 1828 - Dec. 27, 1915; Harriet Alice, Aug. 24, 1837 - Dec. 27, 1915; children of Amzi & Betsey Barnum Rogers.
