From the New York Times of September 12, 1933, p. 23: Granddaughter of P.T. Barnum. Bridgeport, Conn--September 11---Mrs. Helen Barnum Rennell, granddaughter of Phineas T. Barnum, famous showman, and widow of Frank W. Rennell, member of the New York Stock Exchange, died here today. She was 74 years old. Mrs. Rennell was born in New York City in 1858, daughter of Samuel H. and Helen Barnum Hurd. She had made her home here since 1898. Mrs. Rennell took an active part in charitable affairs until ill health prevented her from continuing this work a year ago. She served on the board of directors of the Bridgeport Protestant Orphan Asylum, the Sterling Widows Home and the Burroughs Home for the Aged here. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Alvin C. Breul of this city, and a son, Henry Hurd Rennell of Southport.
