The 1870 US Census for the state of New York shows Milo Barnum, occupation farmer, living in Denmark with Sarah, age 34 and James, age 13.
From the Journal & Republican, Lowville, New York, Thursday, December 16, 1920: Monday morning about 7 o'clock, occurred the death of Milo Barnum aged 86 years and 8 months, the oldest resident of Deer River, after an illness of a little over a week's duration. He was the second son of the late Ira and Eliza Barnum, was born in the town of Denmark and had always resided in this town. His brother, George Barnum and sister, Mrs. Malvina Hufcut passed away a few years ago, he being the only remaining member of the family. He married Miss Sarah Wilcox in 1862 who died in March 1882. He was married in March 1883 to Miss Carrie Caswell who survives. He also leaves one son, L.D. Barnum by his first wife and three granddaughters. Mr. Barnum was always very ambitious and energetic, a kind neighbor and upright citizen. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2 PM.Interment in Swinburne Cemetery.
