From the Watertown Daily Times, July 18, 1991: Pearl Eliza Dekin, 70, Deer River, NY died Wednesday, July 17, afternoon at her home. Burial will be in Swinburne Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Commander Walter D., Pahrump, Nev.; two daughters, Ervina A. M. Dekin and Mrs. Charles (Shirley A.) Haggett Jr., both of Deer River; four grandchildren; a brother, L. D. Barnum Jr., Watertown, and several nephews and nieces.
Three sisters, Vera Staie, Cozette Garrett and Marion Boyce, died before her.
Born in Denmark on Feb. 26, 1921, a daughter of L. D. and Mae Evelyn Paddock Barnum, she attended Carthage schools. She married Ervin Dekin Jr. on Sept. 2, 1942, at the First Congregational Church, Copenhagen. Mr. Dekin, a stationary engineer with Crown Zellerbach Paper Company, Carthage, died March 7, 1983. Â Mrs. Dekin was a homemaker.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church.
